Regardless, you must keep fighting and we can wage these battles against youth together. The kids are getting stronger and faster, and we are getting older, but we don't have to get slower. The primary weapon in your battle to keep ahead of the pack of hormonally enhanced wolves on wheels is a solid training plan. Our 10 week base plan is designed mostly for indoor workouts in the winter months focused on mountain bike technique, top end speed development, and some aerobic threshold improvements.
As the weather gets warmer, the spring 8 week build plan will transition to focused threshold and max aerobic power production (VO2Max) intervals, while getting our endurance from outdoor rides.
Once the high school mountain bike season starts in late summer, you will emerge victorious, stronger than in seasons past, equipped for battle with your fellow coaches cheering you on virtually while you battle you young adversaries at each practice.
